Kindergarten Music

Kindergarten music is still very much about play and exploration, but we begin to formalize our understanding of the elements of music such as beat vs. rhythm, high vs. low, fast vs. slow...etc. We call these our musical opposites. Through singing games, instruments, listening activities, and interactive resources, students in Kindergarten learn to identify and replicate these musical qualities.

The work we do in Kindergarten prepares students to be literate musicians, as they will learn to read and write music in the following grades! It also challenges them to explore their creativity and be bold with how they express their ideas and opinions. We make lots of connections in Kindergarten between music, ourselves, and the world around us.
